Ms. C. has been tutoring my two children (6 y.o. boy and 4 y.o. girl) since last summer. My kids love her and follow her lessons every time. My 6 year old's reading skill has improved tremendously. In the beginning he barely read a word, but now he can read a short story. My daughter is starting to learn phonics and she enjoys learning from Ms. C. She begins to get interested in books and likes to imitate how Ms. C reads a story to her.
I truly thank Ms. C for teaching my children. In addition, Ms. C is very responsible, always on time, and really concerned about her students to do well. She is not only teaching my children English, but also she is being a good model for our children. Each lesson, I've always been satisfied and rated 5 stars. I highly recommend Ms. C that she is an excellent and hard working teacher.
Our son was having so many difficulties making the sounds of each letter in the alphabet and remembering them. He was getting very overwhelmed in class that he was not focusing!!! We were worried he was falling very behind in class, so we were on a mission to find the right tutor. After reading a handful of profiles, Colleen was who we chose and she has been the PERFECT fit!! In the first few sessions we saw a big difference and we are at our 5th session and lets just say our son isn't only get used to the sounds of each letter, but he's actually reading 4 word sentences! We definitely will be using Colleens services for sure because she has the right approach to help our son understand and gives him the confidence to continue to wanna learn!!! Thanks so much Colleen for helping our son catch up in class.
Colleen was a pleasure to work with and extremely helpful in preparing my daughter for college entrance exams. I could not possibly recommend her any higher, and will use her in the future when need be without any qualms.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I utilize proven phonics techniques as well innovative and engaging applications to aide in the learning and retention of both school assigned spelling words and SAT word lists. Pattern recognition, frequent exposure, and use of new spelling words is key to mastery. Understanding phonetic rules and patterns also aides in the recall of the accurate spelling of difficult words. I encourage students to use new spelling words in his/ her writing to learn both the meaning and spelling of the new word in context.
I have successfully utilized and implemented the SQR method to students in grade school as well as college. My techniques are explained in a step-by-step fashion both clearly and concisely. Consulting me on study skill techniques will make your study time efficient and effective.
