My academic focus allows me to offer fresh, relevant insights into AP and IB European, World, and US History. I specialise in helping students master the DBQ and LEQ formats. Fun Fact: I love exploring history through counter-narratives, such as studying the Silk Road from the perspective of merchants (nomadic or settled) rather than just the empires that profited from this trade. I use these diverse viewpoints to help students build deeper, high-scoring arguments while making history truly come alive!

Approved Subjects

American History

American History

While I have not formally taught history, I bring valuable experience from studying US and World History at both my former community college and my current institution. As your US and World History guide, I am eager to illuminate the lessons left to us by past civilisations and remarkable individuals, exploring how their legacies can be applied to today’s digital age in human history. Together, we will delve into the political, social, economic, and environmental narratives of both the non-Western world and Europe, tracing developments from the Age of Exploration to the present day. In our study of US History, we will examine the journey from independence in 1776 to the present, uncovering the pivotal events and transformative moments that have shaped our world.
European History

European History

I offer students an engaging experience learning about how the modern social, economic, and political framework of the European Union was formed. The European Union serves as a testament to the continent's complex history of conflicts and cooperation. It illustrates how nations that were once adversaries have come together to create a unified economic and political entity. Two member countries that used to be adversaries are notably, Spain and Portugal. Their adversarial relationship dates back to the Iberian Peninsula's history, particularly during the period of exploration and colonization when both nations competed for dominance in global trade routes. The rivalry was further fueled by territorial disputes and differing alliances throughout various European conflicts. However, over time, their shared cultural ties and mutual interests in economic stability and growth facilitated a cooperative relationship within the framework of the European Union. The European Union's history of cooperation among adversaries, such as Spain and Portugal, showcases the transformative power of mutual interests and shared goals in fostering unity and stability.
World History

World History

I offer students an engaging teaching experience of why historical events that happened in the past matter in the modern world. By understanding history, students can gain insights into the causes and consequences of past events, which helps them make informed decisions in the present. This knowledge also fosters critical thinking skills and a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and societal development. Ultimately, learning history equips future generations with the tools necessary to avoid repeating past mistakes and to contribute positively to society.
