My name is Scott! I earned my RN in 2010, and I have since obtained my BSN and MSN. Because I had no prior medical knowledge, I found it more challenging to understand the information during nursing school. I still recall a lot of the "tricks" I was taught by two particular instructors, and this is likely due to their interest in the class and aptitude for explaining the content.
Under my capacity as a bedside nurse, I had the opportunity to provide patient care in the following circumstances: Complex Care, Long-Term Care, Medical-Surgical, Spinal Cord, Hospice, Adult Mental Health, Adolescent Mental Health and Rehab. Now I am an instructor at a local college. In the PN program I have taught Medical-Surgical Nursing 1 and 2, IV Therapy, Pharmacology, and Fundamentals of Nursing. In the ADN program I work in the clinical setting specifically in Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics, Fundamentals, and Mental Health. In my classroom I make every lesson fun, interactive, creative, and catering to the different types of learners.
I've been tutoring in the nursing sector for 7 years, and my favorite subjects to teach are Medical-Surgical Nursing I, Pharmacology, and Fundamentals. I often have students meet one-on-one with me to devise a study plan, prioritize tasks, and decrease stress by having material organized. When I am not tutoring to a large group (13-20 students) I have several one-on-one sessions throughout the week working on students' unique learning style, stress management, and developing a study schedule. I have held tutoring sessions both on campus (in-person) as well as on a variety of different virtual platforms. I want to assist my students as much as possible, and welcome any feedback and/or suggestions. I am very easy to reach and always provide quick responses.
