Hi there!

Need a little help with learning BIOLOGY? New to Nutrition? Boggled by Genetics? Bewildered by Anatomy & Physiology? I'm here to help!

I offer compassionate, student centered opportunities for online learning. I am a Licensed Professional Biology Teacher with 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring at the high school and college levels. I hold a current teaching certification and a Master of Education, with Biology Concentration; previous to that, I have earned a Bachelor of Science with Biochemistry Concentration and Associate of Science in both General Science and Biotechnology, graduating with honors.

Currently, I am booking online sessions for the life sciences: *Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Anatomy & Physiology and Ecology.

I am sensitive to the learning differences of each individual and focus our sessions on the students’ goals and strengths, guiding them through any obstacles in the path of their learning. I tend to determine what is most important to the student and use authentic examples of science in the context of real-life applications that compliment student's goals to lead to deeper understanding. Together we can collaborate, determine your goals and individualize your instruction to your needs.

As an educational philosophy, I believe that education and learning are essential for personal growth and success, and that learning should be fun and engaging; teaching is an art that elegantly combines cognitive, psychological and educational elements with each student's unique learning requirements. Instruction should be individualized to match the student's needs (I follow the UDL, Universal Design for Learning, model).

Note: During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is preferred by many for learning to occur remotely online to maintain social distancing precautions and reduce the spread of the virus. (Flatten the curve everyone!)

Genetics

Genetics applications are fascinating to me; I earned an "A" in graduate level Genetics, followed by an "A" in The Biology of Cancer class. Earlier in my career, I specialized in Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, as well as laboratory techniques in Biotechnology. I had earned an Associate Degree in Biotechnology early in my Biology career and graduated with honors.

My daughter was between an A and B. With Jenifer’s help, she finished the semester with an A. Jenifer was always prepared and organized for the lesson. My daughter enjoyed working with her.

Absolutely perfect

She was very patient and understanding and really went over things and found great visuals to help me. She would also go over each problem in depth and gave me helpful tips on how to remember things during test. Very thankful to her.

Kenyatis, 1 lesson with Jenifer

Knowledgeable and patient

She helped my son to review a scientific article on origin of life form. I loved the way she annotated the article. I strongly recommend her for honors biology and AP biology.
