I received my Bachelor's Degree in English from Bridgewater State College in 2009 and am currently working on my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Fitchburg State University.
I have been an instructional classroom teacher for English Language Arts when I began my career in the 7th-9th grade classroom in 2012. I taught in Nevada for 2 years in a struggling, underperforming rural school. I was able to close some of the achievement gaps in English Language Arts for the Junior High using consistent and routine-based instruction, while also providing remedial support for below grade level readers and writers. I then relocated to Florida where I taught in a visual and performing arts high school. I taught honors-level junior and senior English Language Arts curriculum for 2 year. I finally moved back home to Massachusetts to start my family. I continued to teach English Language Arts in a therapeutic- based high school. I have been at my current school since 2017, which is a vocational and technical high school with a strong focus on MCAS. I have been teaching 9th and 10th content English classes, as well as a supported class for struggling readers and writers. My students continue to meet or exceed expectations on their ELA MCAS tests.
