I specialize in working with strong, motivated students who are already performing well but need to reach the next level. Many of my students come to me with solid SAT, ACT, SSAT, or ISEE scores and ambitious goals—often after finding that prep books, classes, or other tutoring have only taken them so far.

With more than 20 years of experience, I’ve helped hundreds of students achieve meaningful score gains, including 300+ point increases on the SAT, 5+ point increases on the ACT, and substantial improvements on the SSAT and ISEE. I also work extensively with high-scoring students trying to gain those last 50–100 points—which can be the hardest points to earn.

My approach is highly targeted. Strong students don’t need to spend valuable time reviewing material they already know. Instead, I identify exactly where a student is losing points and why: specific content gaps, inefficient strategies, difficulty recognizing what a question is testing, timing issues, or preventable mistakes. We then focus on the changes that will have the greatest impact.

I am a graduate of Dartmouth College with an MBA from Boston University and take on a limited number of students to ensure focused, individualized attention.

Students I’ve worked with have gone on to attend schools including Harvard, Dartmouth, Cornell, Rice, Notre Dame, Northeastern, Emory, Boston College, and Babson.

Private school placements include Phillips Exeter, Winsor, Thayer Academy, Concord Academy, and others.

ACT English

If your student is already scoring in the mid-to-high 20s but struggling to break into the 32–34+ range, that’s exactly where I focus. I work with high-achieving students who don’t need basic tutoring—they need help identifying where they’re losing points and how to consistently perform at a higher level on the ACT. I specialize in the ACT and how it differs from other standardized tests, particularly in its pacing, question patterns, and section-specific strategies. Many students come to me after using prep books or classes and feeling stuck. My approach is highly targeted: pinpointing where points are being lost, teaching efficient strategies for the most time-pressured sections, and reinforcing only the concepts that actually appear on the test. With over 25 years of experience and hundreds of students, I have a track record of helping students achieve meaningful score gains. I take on a limited number of students to ensure focused attention and consistent results. If this sounds like a fit, I’m happy to discuss your student’s current score and goals.

GRE

If you’re already performing well on the GRE but need to raise your score for a specific program, that’s exactly where I focus. I work with high-achieving students and professionals who don’t need basic instruction—they need a targeted approach to improve performance and reach their goal score. My approach is highly strategic and efficient. We focus on identifying exactly where points are being lost, refining timing and question approach, and strengthening only the concepts that are most likely to impact your score. Many students come to me after self-study or prep courses and feel stuck—my role is to break through that plateau. With over 25 years of experience and hundreds of students, I have a track record of helping students achieve meaningful score gains. Many of my students are already strong academically but need to raise their scores into the top score ranges to be fully competitive in the admissions process. My approach is highly targeted to the ISEE. Students often come to me with mid-range scores and we work towards the top scores that are typically expected by more selective schools. With 25 years of experience and hundreds of students, I have a track record of helping students achieve meaningful score gains and strengthen their applications. I take on a limited number of students to ensure focused attention and consistent results.

If your student is aiming for National Merit recognition, the PSAT requires a very specific level of performance. I work with high-achieving students who are already strong academically but need to reach the Selection Index cutoff required for National Merit Semifinalist status. My approach is highly targeted to the PSAT and how it aligns with the Digital SAT. We focus on where points are being lost, how to maximize performance on each section, and the strategies that consistently move students into top percentile ranges. This is not general test prep—it’s focused work designed to help students reach scholarship-level scores. With over 25 years of experience and hundreds of students, I have a track record of helping students achieve meaningful score gains. I take on a limited number of students to ensure focused attention and consistent results. If your student is aiming for National Merit, I’m happy to discuss their current scores and goals.

Fantastic, calm, all business tutor

Kathy has worked with our son for about 6 months prepping for the ACT. She has been fantastic in helping him work on specific areas and to improve across the board. Her calm all-business approach matched very well with our son and his goals. He just found out that he got a perfect score on the ACT which was the result of hard work and a focused game plan. We highly recommend Kathy.

Outstanding Tutor

Kathy is the perfect combination of teacher and coach, which makes her an excellent tutor for standardized exams. She worked with my son on ACT prep, and I am quite sure that his scores reflect her help. Kathy really looked at my son and was able to zero in on what he knew, what he didn’t, why he made mistakes and how to avoid them. She knows the test inside and out and also gave my son strategies for test day. On top of it, she is patient, friendly, flexible and really lovely to interact with. If there’s a better tutor out there, I’d be surprised.
