I will help your child write high quality, uniquely personal admissions essays in their own voice that are strategically targeted at their favorite schools. I have a PhD in English from the University of Pennsylvania, and have been an English Professor at the University of New Hampshire for 35 years. My students, ranging from Grade 6 to 12, attend international private schools and Chinese public schools in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong, as well as private boarding schools in the US. This has made me familiar with the cultural and educational challenges that Chinese students face.
In our first meeting, I will evaluate the student’s English skills, educational needs, and learning style, to determine if I can help them succeed. Because I do not speak Mandarin, students must have a basic English fluency.
I work primarily on essay writing and am not a full-service educational consultant. I am happy to offer advice about which schools best match a student’s personality and learning style. Issues related to visas and immigration are outside my area of expertise.
