Hi, I’m Kyra! I’m a current English teacher who has worked with students kindergarten through grad school. My bachelors degree is in elementary education with two years of elementary classroom teaching experience and my masters is in secondary English education with experience working in both middle and high school classrooms.
Through my experience working with students of all ages, I’ve realized how important relationships are to learning and how much I enjoy building those relationships with students. I love supporting students through their academic struggles and celebrating those breakthrough moments with them!
While I began as a content-focused educator, I also realized how crucial it is to explicitly teach executive function skills in order for students to be successful. I’ve developed strategies and supports to not only teach students the skills, but also to teach them to self-identify why they’re struggling so that they can truly develop independence with these skills.
