ELA Teacher (grades 5-12) and Experienced Tutor

Greetings! During a 20+ year career in education, I have taught English language arts for grades 5-12, worked as a paraeducator for grades 6-8, and served as a tutor for students needing help with reading comprehension, writing, test preparation, and executive functioning skills. I have always enjoyed tutoring because I get to provide more targeted instruction to help students who may be getting lost in the classroom.

As an ELA classroom teacher and tutor for 18 years, I used a variety of instructional practices to help students improve their reading and writing skills across the curriculum. I am able to build a strong rapport with students by helping them to build confidence in themselves, and by figuring out what their individualized needs are as readers and writers.
