Hi, and thank you for visiting my profile. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a Masters in Reading and Writing Education. I tutor students in English, Social Studies, Math, Science, and Foreign Languages and, using their assignments as a springboard, I teach them study and executive function skills. I also help 11th and 12th graders navigate through the college selection and application process.

I’ve been working with high school and middle school students for thirty years. My roles as a Learning Specialist and a Study Skills and Executive Function Specialist have exposed me to vast amounts of curriculum and varied academic expectations in all subject areas. I am also a Reading and Writing Specialist and teach students specific skills including decoding and spelling words, reading fluency, reading comprehension, paragraph writing, and writing organized 5-paragraph essays and research papers using the writing process. For every student I adapt my teaching methods to meet their individual needs, which allows them to learn thoroughly and retain information in a variety of different ways.

My goal is for students to feel comfortable, engaged and productive every time we work together. I believe parent communication and involvement is important for optimal student success so I keep parents updated and always welcome questions and suggestions. Please contact me to talk specifically about what you’re looking for in a tutor or to schedule a lesson!

Kind, Patient and Effective Tutor

Cindy has been a wonderful tutor for my daughter. From the very beginning, she took the time to meet with both of us before starting sessions to make sure my daughter felt comfortable. During our intake, Cindy was extremely attentive and made me feel confident that she would be able to support not only my daughter’s math needs but also her executive functioning skills. She is kind, patient, and committed to truly understanding my child’s struggles. My daughter has told me how much she enjoys the sessions and actually looks forward to them, which speaks volumes. Cindy communicates very well, often asking for pictures of what my daughter is working on so she can plan effectively. It’s clear that she puts in the effort to be prepared and tailor the sessions to my daughter’s needs. Overall, Cindy is thoughtful, professional, and dedicated—I would highly recommend her to any parent looking for a tutor who can blend strong subject knowledge with genuine care and support.

Brilliant Tutor - Clear Results

Before working with Ms. Cindy, my son was like an absent-minded professor: brilliant, yet prone to losing assignments, making silly mistakes (e.g., forgetting to notice the backside of a test), and hopelessly disorganized. His grades were either 100s or failing grades. Partway through this school year, he was diagnosed with inattentive ADD. While medicine has helped some, what really made the difference was his weekly tutoring sessions with Ms. Cindy. She taught him organizational strategies, how to use a day planner, tips for avoiding silly mistakes, effective study skills and about meta cognition. The end result: he's gone two marking periods in a row with straight A's, and is ending 8th grade feeling confident as he transitions to high school. Ms. Cindy is quite knowledgeable, experienced, and ever-so patient. Always encouraging to my son (and myself), she comes prepared to each session. It's amazing how much she fits into an hour. And as a parent, I'm extremely thankful for the lesson summary she sends me afterwards! Don't hesitate. You'll be happy you chose Cindy for your child's tutoring needs.
