Bio

Hi - I'm glad you stopped by! My name is Erica, and I've been teaching maths for about 25 years, mostly in Massachusetts, but also in a number of international schools, so that I am familiar with AP and IB curricula alike. I've taught students who struggle with beginning algebra and geometry concepts, as well as strong students taking with calculus and statistics, as they prepare for AP and IB exams alike. Hi - I'm glad you stopped by! My name is Erica, and I've been teaching maths for about 25 years, mostly in Massachusetts, but also in a number of international schools, so that I am familiar with AP and IB curricula alike. I've taught students who struggle with beginning algebra and geometry concepts, as well as strong students taking with calculus and statistics, as they prepare for AP and IB exams alike. In the IB curriculum, I've taught MYP and all levels of DP maths; and in the AP curriculum, I've taught Calculus AB, BC, and AP Statistics. My students have always scored extremely well (the average of all my students' AP scores over the years is around a 4.8 out of 5).

My greatest satisfaction is from working with a student like you one on one, having the time to answer your questions, and taking a few minutes to find out how your day (or week) has been going. My number one goal is to make math seem intuitive to you. With the right person (me), and with some time, there is no math concept (at least those taught at the high school or DP level) that can't make sense! I am completely qualified to do anything from help you with your homework, to give you a set of problems that will help you prepare for a test you have coming up in a few days.

I have taught Algebra II at all levels (highest honors, advanced, college prep and basic), and am currently teaching this course at the advanced level. I have been interested in using the capabilities of graphing calculators to make the material more intuitive, and continually strive to connect the material of this course to real-world applications.

I am in my 5th year of teaching Calculus AB, and have taught Calculus BC for 6 years as well. In addition, I have also taught Calculus in the Diploma Years levels of the IB curriculum, at the SL and HL levels. In my 11 years of teaching AP Calculus, only a few handful of students have scored anything less than a 5 in any given year.
Geometry

Geometry

I have taught full-year geometry courses at every level, from students who struggle with math to students who are in our most accelerated honors course. I make extensive use of Geogebra, which is an online site that helps students visualize many aspects of math so that what they’re studying feels as intuitive as possible. I am glad to help your child with his or her own work, and can also easily supplement with additional materials and practice.
