As a tutor, I enjoy the one to one relationship I have with each student. As we work together, exploring learning styles, educational strengths and weaknesses, I am able to individualize my educational plan to meet the unique needs of each particular student I tutor.
My experience in tutoring students in k-6th grade is most importantly based on my having home schooled both my daughter and son from k-12. Both of my children are gifted with their unique learning styles, strengths and weaknesses that required modification of my instructional methods to allow for their success in meeting their educational goals. Where I was able to follow suggested lesson plans for my one child, I needed to modify those plans or seek other forms of instruction for the other. This was challenging but allowed me to really focus on doing what was best for each of my children. Throughout this process I was able to access educational specialists through our home school community and teaching convention refining my expertise as my children's teacher
My educational qualifications include an Associates Degree in Nursing and Sustainable Food and Farming, a BA in Biology and Environmental Technology and a MS in Fisheries and Wildlife Management. Courses completed include biology, botany, ecology, ornithology, zoology, anatomy and physiology, soil science and co-requisite courses in chemistry, math and physics. I love all things science and love to tell others about the wonder of science.
I would really love to be a part of your students educational experience and hope I can spark a love and respect for the world of science. Our country needs many students prepared in STEM subjects. Let me be part of that experience for them.
