I am a longtime writer with a large number of published credits. I have successfully taught young children to write effectively in the classroom setting. One of my former students returned to me after a year and told me that he used to dread the three-page papers I made his class write. Now, in high school, he is writing a large number of five-page papers and getting A's. "When I look around the room," he said to me, "the other kids don't even know where to start." I bring that ability to students of all ages. I use a tested method that provides a formal structure to writing (consistent with Common Core Standards) and makes learning to write easy for all students. Furthermore, I am fully certified in the state of Massachusetts in English for 5th through 12th grades.
As a novel writer, I am also able to convey the concepts of literature to all students, again using a system of easy-to-understand principles which are modified to appropriate age levels.
Much of my published writing has been in the area of American history and I have spent three years teaching that subject in a classroom setting as well as teaching English writing and literature. I have also spent two summers attending the "Teaching American History" program at Smith College which is a joint venture of the Collaborative for Educational Services in Northampton, Mass., and the U.S. Dept. of Education.
