Hello! I’m a college professor with a Ph.D. in philosophy and more than 25 years of experience helping students become better writers, thinkers, and problem-solvers. I’ve taught and advised students at schools like Smith College, Mount Holyoke, Carleton College, Texas Tech, and Kansas State. Now, I’m excited to share that experience with you.

I enjoy helping high school and college students discover their own voice. Writing can seem tough, but I aim to make it easier. We’ll work together to build strong arguments, organize your ideas, and make sure your writing sounds like you. Whether you need help starting a Common App essay, working through a challenging logic class, or finishing a research paper, I offer a supportive and low-stress online environment.

Outside of coaching, I stay active as a researcher, writer, and speaker in the academic community.

Educational Equity: I believe everyone should have access to quality guidance. I set aside reduced-rate spots for students who need financial help. If cost is a concern for your family, please reach out so we can talk about your options.

Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy and have more than 25 years of experience teaching writing-intensive philosophy courses at the university level. Because philosophy is a discipline centered on careful argumentation, I have extensive experience teaching students how to formulate a clear thesis, support it with evidence and reasoning, anticipate objections, and revise their work into well-organized, persuasive essays. My students write a wide range of essays, from weekly reading responses that analyze philosophical texts to argumentative essays and longer research papers that develop a clear thesis, support it with evidence, and respond thoughtfully to objections. Throughout the writing process, I help students strengthen their organization, argumentation, use of sources, and revision skills
Logic

Logic

I hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy and teach logic and critical reasoning at the university level. My teaching focuses on evaluating arguments, distinguishing deductive and inductive reasoning, identifying logical fallacies, and applying logical principles to philosophical and everyday problems. I also use logic extensively in my research and writing. I work with students to build both conceptual understanding and practical reasoning skills.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

As a university professor, I have many years of experience helping students write personal statements for graduate, law, and medical school applications. I work with students throughout the writing process, from generating ideas and identifying meaningful experiences to developing a clear account that connects their academic interests with their future goals. I help students strengthen their organization, grammar, syntax, and style and ensure that their final essay reflects their authentic voice. I ask reflective questions, provide detailed feedback, and draw on my experience helping students with these applications to help them produce polished, compelling personal statements that effectively communicate their strengths.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

My university teaching experience includes many years of helping students produce clear, well-structured theses that communicate their ideas effectively. I hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy and have experience teaching writing-intensive courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Over many years, I have guided students through every stage of thesis writing, from developing a focused research question to organizing complex arguments and integrating scholarly sources. My experience includes directing Honors Undergraduate Theses and Master’s Theses in philosophy. I also have experience writing and publishing my own scholarly research, which has given me firsthand knowledge of the expectations for successful scholarly writing.
Writing

Writing

As both a writer and a university professor, I have extensive experience helping students develop their writing skills. Because writing is central to the courses I teach, I regularly work with students on every stage of the writing process, from generating ideas and creating an outline to strengthening organization, supporting claims with evidence, and revising for clarity and style. I have helped students write effectively on a wide range of topics, from personal narratives to analytical and argumentative essays on public policy and other academic subjects. My goal is to help students become more confident, thoughtful, and effective writers.
