I am currently a Biology major at the undergraduate level, with a strong academic foundation in biology, chemistry, health sciences and environmental science. I have completed advanced coursework in biology and chemistry and am currently serving as a Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry laboratory, where I support students with course material, lab techniques, and conceptual understanding. In addition, I have completed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) coursework, which strengthened my ability to apply scientific concepts in real-world, high-pressure settings and communicate effectively. I also hold Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training and am pursuing additional certifications as part of my academic and professional development.
While I have not yet held a formal tutoring position, I am currently applying to be a peer tutor at my university, and I have gained meaningful teaching and academic support experience through my role as an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant and General Chemistry Teaching Assistant and through informal peer instruction. As a TA, I regularly assist students with understanding lab procedures, interpreting results, and clarifying complex chemical concepts. I also support students one-on-one by answering questions, walking them through problem-solving strategies, and helping them build confidence in challenging material.
My teaching experience has primarily involved college-aged students in academic settings, including laboratory environments and one-on-one or small-group interactions. Through TA responsibilities and peer support, I have worked with students of varying academic backgrounds and confidence levels. These experiences have helped me develop strong communication skills, approachability, and the ability to explain complex topics in an accessible way. I'm excited to apply these skills and continue developing as an academic mentor.
