I’m a PhD-trained statistician with about nine years of experience tutoring math and statistics. During my bachelor’s and PhD, I spent a lot of time helping students with probability, statistics, and related math courses, and I’ve also taught calculus as a primary instructor. I’m a PhD-trained statistician with about nine years of experience tutoring math and statistics. During my bachelor’s and PhD, I spent a lot of time helping students with probability, statistics, and related math courses, and I’ve also taught calculus as a primary instructor. I really enjoy working through ideas that feel abstract or frustrating and helping them start to make sense.

I also worked for two years as a statistical consultant, which means I’ve seen how statistics actually gets used in real research settings. Because of that, I tend to focus on understanding the why behind things — why a method works, when it makes sense to use it, and how to interpret results — not just how to grind through problems. Sessions are pretty conversational and low-stress, and we go at whatever pace is most helpful.

I’m especially comfortable with probability, calculus, real analysis, and the more theoretical side of statistics, including proofs. Whether you’re stuck on a concept, preparing for an exam, or just want to talk something through with someone who enjoys this stuff, I’m happy to help.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I have taught calculus as a primary instructor, and worked in a university tutoring center (where the majority of the questions dealt with calculus) for 9 years. Most of my coursework for my PhD in Statistics required calculus--and not in a small way, since it is the backbone a of a lot of mathematical statistics. Calculus is essential to probability, and I have passed a PhD qualifying exam in probability.
Statistics

Statistics

Not only do I hold a PhD in Statistics, but I worked as a statistical consultant for real-world research problems for 2 years. That means I know how to translate actual problems into statistical language, and how the "art" of statistics is done in practice. I have taught courses in elementary and graduate level statistics. I am deeply passionate about this subject.
