If your child is capable but struggling in math, feeling frustrated, or convinced they “just aren’t a math person,” the right support can make a real difference. I am a highly qualified educator with over twenty years of experience teaching mathematics and special education at the middle school and early high school levels. I hold a Master of Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Secondary Education and Math, and I am certified to teach Math PreK–8 and Special Education Mild to Moderate Disabilities PreK–12. My experience includes years of classroom teaching and one-to-one tutoring with students in grades 7 through 10, focusing on middle school math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. I am very familiar with the curricula commonly used in these grades and am skilled at adapting them so they work for individual learners.
Many of the students I work with come to tutoring believing they hate math or that they are not capable of succeeding. Through carefully structured lessons and achievable goals, students experience small successes that build over time. As understanding grows, confidence increases, anxiety decreases, and students begin to approach math with greater persistence. I take the time to get to know each student, assessing how they think about math, identifying gaps in understanding, and tailoring instruction to their unique learning needs. With two decades of experience, I know how to support a wide range of learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, ADHD, autism, and math anxiety.
I am available for homework support, targeted math intervention, and enrichment for students in grades 7–10. Some students work with me to catch up and strengthen foundational skills, while others seek support to stay on track, prepare for assessments, or extend their learning in Algebra or Geometry. My goal is to help students build understanding and confidence step by step so they can succeed in their math courses and believe in their ability to do so.
