Hello World! I'm Annie!
I'm a software engineer with an interdisciplinary scientific background and a passion for making technical knowledge available to everyone. I graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with both a BS in Biology and a BA in Linguistics. I went on to get an MS in Computational Linguistics at Brandeis University, which became my route into the tech industry. My work and academic experience have spanned a wide range of fields, from text analytics to conservation ecology to undersea robotics.
Throughout this journey, I've always sought to share my knowledge with others whenever I can. When I interned at a marine biology lab as an undergraduate, in addition to conducting my own research, I taught ecology concepts and field work methods to middle school students at a summer camp program run by the lab. During grad school, I worked as a TA multiple times -- first for a historical linguistics course, and later for a data structures course -- helping teach both undergraduates and other grad students. Throughout my tech career, I've frequently been commended by my colleagues for my ability to explain complex technical concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand.
