Hi! My name is Mira, and I recently graduated summa cum laude (GPA: 4.0) from Harvard University with a B.A. in Psychology. I have a deep love of teaching and enjoy working with students to tailor the tutoring experience to their individual needs. My approach to tutoring is to model different problem-solving strategies and help students adapt them for their own use.

Over the past 9 years, I've gained experience tutoring a variety of subjects across multiple grades and difficulty levels. At the high school level, I tutor algebra, geometry, physics, biology, English, and psychology. I received 5's on all AP courses I took in these subjects (AP Physics 1, AP Biology, AP Language and Composition, AP Literature, and AP Psychology). At the college level, I tutor psychology, neuroscience, and research methods. I also enjoy teaching general research and writing skills to apply across different subjects. I'm always happy to work with interested students on learning a new skill or pursuing a passion project!

My tutoring experience mainly comes from working with students one-on-one. I have worked in my high school's math and writing resource centers, providing drop-in support to students in algebra, geometry, calculus, and English courses. I have also worked for Harvard's Academic Resource Center, providing weekly tutoring for college students in psychology and neuroscience classes. In addition to one-on-one settings, I also have experience supporting high school and college science and math classes: I taught course content, facilitated activities, and answered student questions in physics, geometry, and neuroscience classes. Lastly, I have experience building and teaching my own curriculum for a one-week psychology intensive course for high school students.

I'm happy to answer any questions, so please don't hesitate to reach out! I'm looking forward to working with you!

I spent two years working in my high school's Math Resource Center, where I helped students currently enrolled in Algebra 2.
Biology

Biology

I excelled in my AP Biology class and exam, and I deeply enjoyed learning biology. When teaching the subject, I like to focus on understanding the functioning of biological systems to avoid overreliance on memorization.
English

English

I spent two years working in my high school's Reading and Writing Center, where I helped students across various grades and course difficulty levels (including AP Lang/Lit) write essays. Specifically, I helped them with brainstorming topics, coming up with research questions and thesis statements, constructing persuasive arguments, and improving diction/grammar/fluency.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I helped start an ESL math tutoring program at my high school and worked extensively with Chinese international students for two years. I used a mixture of English, Mandarin, and visual demonstrations to teach concepts, assist with homework, and explain test questions. I worked with students both in classroom settings and in one-on-one tutoring settings.
Geometry

Geometry

I worked as a TA for a high school geometry class, where I taught class content, answered student questions, and supported an ESL student in the class. I also worked in my high school's math tutoring center for two years, where I assisted students taking geometry with drop-in questions.
Physics

Physics

After excelling in my AP Physics class and receiving a 5 on the AP exam, I became a TA for an honors physics class at my high school. I taught class content, facilitated labs, created review activities, graded assignments, and answered student questions in and out of class.
Psychology

Psychology

I recently graduated from Harvard, where I received highest honors for my B.A. in Psychology (summa cum laude, 4.0 GPA). I have three years of experience tutoring various psychology, neuroscience, and research methods courses at Harvard. I am now working full-time as a research assistant in a clinical psychology lab.
