Greetings all, I hold a MA in History from Northeastern University and a BA in History with a minor in Political Science from Rhode Island College. I am also certified to teach History for grades 8–12 in Massachusetts, Maryland, and Rhode Island, and hold Massachusetts certification as a K–12 Principal/Assistant Principal and Supervisor/Director of Core History. I have more than 27 years of experience in education, teaching students from middle school through graduate-level study in both traditional classroom and online environments.
My teaching experience includes working with students in grades 6–12 as well as undergraduate and graduate students. I have taught U.S. History, World History, Western Civilization, American Government, Politics, Ancient and Medieval History, and other history-related subjects. My experience includes classroom teaching, one-on-one advising and academic support, tutoring students who needed additional assistance, mentoring, and leading an after-school program for middle school students who were at risk of failing. I have also taught online for many years, including synchronous instruction for students in grades 3–12 and undergraduate online courses. My approach emphasizes student engagement, clear communication, individualized support, and adapting instruction to different learning needs. I have used project-based and hands-on learning, discussions, digital resources, assessments, and real-world experiences to help students connect with course material and build confidence.
In addition to teaching, I have extensive experience advising and supporting students academically and professionally. I have managed large student caseloads, helped students overcome academic challenges, provided career guidance, and developed individualized strategies based on students' strengths and needs.
