I am a teacher with 21 years of experience. I am certified in history, social studies, and political science. I also teach and tutor students in English and writing. I have a bachelor’s degree in political science, and a master’s degree in communications studies. Like most teachers I teach primarily in a larger classroom setting, but I also have considerable experience – four years - tutoring students one-on-one. I have tutored students in a variety of subjects, including history, English, writing, math, and science. Whether teaching in the classroom or tutoring one-on-one, I use a variety of student-centered teaching strategies that are engaging and fun. As a teacher I am also honest, flexible, patient, and a good listener. I always want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, particularly when they might not understand something or when something might not be clear. In short, I always want my students to have a positive experience.
I want to help my students succeed as much as possible. As an essential part of their success, I welcome any input, suggestions, or resources from both students and parents.
