I hold a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College and a master’s degree from Boston University, and I bring over 30 years of experience as a dedicated educator in public elementary schools. Throughout my career, I have worked as both a classroom teacher and a special education teacher, primarily with students in grades 2 through 5. My approach is grounded in patience, consistency, and a deep belief in every child’s potential to grow academically and personally.
My teaching background includes extensive experience supporting students who face academic challenges. Outside of the school year, I have taught summer school programs designed to prevent learning loss and close achievement gaps, helping students build confidence and maintain momentum in reading, writing, and math. I hold current certifications in elementary education (through grade 6) and special education (through grade 8), equipping me to support a broad range of learners with diverse needs and abilities.
One of my strengths as a tutor is my training in a multi-sensory, direct, and explicit approach to reading instruction. This method breaks down reading and spelling into smaller, manageable components, making literacy accessible and engaging for students at all levels. I am passionate about helping learners gain the tools they need to succeed and believe that individualized instruction, rooted in research-based practices, can make a lasting difference in a child’s educational journey.
