My expertise in neuroscience and case method programs of interdisciplinary teaching and learning is quite extensive, leading teams of students and faculties in case collaborations with peer schools nationally and in 7 foreign countries. I have a BS magna cum laude in biological sciences and MS PhD in neuroscience. As an NIH principal investigator I am the founding director of the laboratory for cellular and molecular neuroscience at Harvard while leading a path to innovation in teaching and learning in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

I excel in a tutorial collaborative environment, building partnerships of practice with my students through communication, cooperation, and feedback. Most notably, I developed the interactive case-based online network, ICON that empowers any learner to virtually immerse themselves into any case setting to interact in a real time decision-making, problem-solving situation. I modeled this learning method on the Hopfield neural net and the neural basis of executive functioning skills.

My work is published in scientific journals and 100+ case studies, describing cognitive competencies that help students plan, organize, focus, and manage a new preparedness and confidence in understanding important principles and concepts in their learning. My goal is for students to begin a path to academic success and transformative lifelong outcomes in ways I have seen my students never forget.

My qualifications include: tutorial program director in molecular and cellular biology, systems biology, AP biology, science competitions, IXL biology certified skill plans, NREMT, HESI, ASCP, conjugated nanospheres developed for stereotaxic in vivo targeted drug delivery, fos/RNAi genomics, multimedia simulations, NIH study sections and advisory panels, and leading teams of faculties and students in neurobiology case method collaborations with peer schools nationally and in 7 foreign countries.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

My expertise in innovating executive function and regulation skills in case method programs of interdisciplinary teaching and learning is quite extensive, leading teams of students and faculties in case collaborations with peer schools nationally and in 7 foreign countries. Most notably, I developed the interactive case-based online network, ICON that empowers any learner to virtually immerse themselves into any case setting to interact in a real time decision-making, problem-solving situation. I modeled the ICON case method on the Hopfield neural net and the neural basis of executive functioning behaviors that i view as the brain's GPS for navigating tasks. This work is published in 100+ case studies, describing foundational self-advocacy competencies of executive cognitive metrics that help students plan, organize, focus, and manage their behavior on a path to transformative lifelong outcomes.

Writing

Writing

It’s a collaboration where I’m trying to build a bridge for the student from what’s on the page to the ideas they’re trying to work out in their head – the very thing AI can’t yet do. I want students to see that writing is a way of figuring out what they think, finding a structure for their thoughts so they can see them more clearly in trying to answer questions they don’t already know the answers to. I have directed projects where students adapt their research papers into op-eds which they submit for publication so they can have a voice in a national conversation. My applied teaching expertise in writing and publishing is quite extensive. My qualifications include casebook narratives, competency decision-making assessment, student-centered teaching and learning metrics, NIH principal investigator and author of peer-reviewed publications, R01 and SBIR funded proposals, scientific journal section lead editor, journalism competitions, statements of hypothesis, experimental design. evidence-based protocols, NIH study sections and advisory panels, and print and live media formats.

Professor Q.

Professor Q. was absolutely amazing. I finally have hope that I can pass the EPPP. He is highly intelligent but never made me feel insecure or doubtful about passing this exam. HIGHLY RECOMMEND PROFESSOR Q.!!!
