I have been teaching since 1996 in grades two to post-grad to adult education. I have advised college undergrads and grad students on essay, thesis, and doctoral dissertation writing. I have taught English Language Arts, history, and, as a special education teacher, studying techniques, test-taking strategies, and executive functioning skills, among other areas in public and private schools located in rural, suburban, and urban settings. I am professionally licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a special education teacher and have held licenses as a K-12 principal, English teacher, and history teacher. I have taught English and history from grade 7 to 12 and have created curricula for American literature, British literature, Shakespeare, sports literature, American history, world history, and dozens of books and topics in each grade's canon. Further, I have served as a college dean, a director and teacher of adult education (HiSET/GED) programs, and researcher for numerous published articles and books over the past two decades.
I possess a PhD in Educational Leadership & Policy to go along with an M.Ed in English Education and a Bachelor's degree in English. I have numerous peer-reviewed publications in the form of books and journal articles as an author, co-author, and editor. I have given presentations at the largest peer-reviewed educational conferences in the US and abroad, include AERA in Philadelphia, WERA in Guanajuato, Mexico, and NYCORE New York City, among others from England to New England.
I have tutored students individually and in small groups over the past 20 years, helping each reach their goals, whether it be to earn a high school diploma, be admitted to an Ivy League School, or to pass a doctoral dissertation defense. The acts of teaching and learning are my passions, where it's not enough just to provide information and skills, but to instill a love of and craving for knowledge, enlightenment, self-enrichment.
