Hi! My name is Yuyuan and I'm a student at Brown University majoring in Comparative Literature and Computer Science. I am a very strong analytical and creative writer, having received National Scholastic Gold and Silver Awards for my poetry, essays, and journalism, and an experienced public speaker/debater, participating in the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition since 2020. In addition, I have led Creative Classroom, a community organization providing English writing, public speaking, and leadership workshops to 500+ underprivileged immigrant youth across the US and Canada, accruing over 600 hours of teaching and tutoring experience with elementary, middle, and high school students since 2020. Through my work in Creative Classroom, I've learned that, for me, the most enjoyable part of teaching is the opportunity to help my students grow as learners and as people through leading by example. I curate personalized, creative lesson plans and practice exercises not just to help students improve their skills in class, but also develop a love for writing, speaking, and leadership that persists long after lessons conclude.

I specialize in helping students improve their analytical writing abilities through essay editing (for all subjects) and grammar/vocabulary help, general English reading comprehension and SAT/ACT reading sections, and preparation for public speaking/speech tournaments. Because my goal as a tutor and teacher is to make learning as enjoyable, beneficial, and impactful for my students as possible, I welcome any resources, suggestions, and questions students or parents can provide.
