I'm Rebecca! I earned my Bachelor's degree in Communications from Plymouth State University and later obtained a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Massachusetts. I have 20 years of experience as a Special Education teacher, working in both Boston Public Schools and surrounding suburban school districts. Throughout my career, I have supported students with a wide range of learning needs, helping them build academic skills, confidence, and independence. Throughout my teaching career, I have also tutored numerous students in rule-based reading instruction, helping them strengthen their decoding, encoding, fluency, and comprehension skills through systematic, multi-sensory approaches.
I am an educator dedicated to supporting students' academic growth and success. For the majority of my career, I have served as a Certified Wilson Reading Specialist, providing structured literacy instruction to students from elementary through high school. I have extensive experience supporting students with reading challenges, including dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities. My instructional approach is individualized, evidence-based, and designed to meet each student's unique learning profile.
In addition to my Wilson certification, I am currently pursuing my Orton-Gillingham certification to further expand my expertise in structured literacy and reading intervention. I believe that every student can become a successful reader when provided with explicit, systematic instruction tailored to their individual needs. By building meaningful relationships with students and collaborating closely with families, I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to take risks, celebrate growth, and achieve their full potential.
