My programming and teaching experience began in high school, where I founded our school's FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team and spent four dedicated years as the lead programmer. Throughout this time, I extensively used Java and object-oriented programming principles to write, debug, and optimize code for our robot. In the latter years, I taught and guided new team members, who often had little to no prior programming knowledge. By teaching them Java basics and FRC application through real robot projects with WPILib, these students progressively gained enough skill to function independently and manage the team's software development after my graduation. Also during highschool, I took the AP Computer Science A course, further solidifying my Java expertise, and AP Computer Science Principles, introducing me to JavaScript. I also self-taught basic Python and the OpenCV library for a course project. Additionally, I gained valuable teaching experience volunteering as a mentor at CodeKonnect, an in-person coding summer camp, where I supported middle school students in a collaborative, hands-on coding challenge of the MIT & NASA ZeroRobotics competition.

I am willing and prepared to tutor students primarily in Java programming, object-oriented programming principles, general support with basic Python and JavaScript, as well as assistance with either AP Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles courses. I also offer specialized tutoring for students involved in FRC programming, helping them bridge theory and practical robot software development.

My tutoring style is concept-focused, with my project-oriented background allowing me to utilize student projects and assignments as facilitators. I'm able to spot deficiencies in understanding and simplify complex programming ideas. Ultimately, my goal as a tutor isn't just to show students how to push buttons, but to teach concepts that will provide students with a powerful foundation they may have struggled to find elsewhere.

Computer Science

I have four years of hands-on programming experience as the lead programmer for my high school’s FRC robotics team, where I extensively applied Java and object-oriented programming. I trained team members from the ground up, helping them become independent contributors using WPILib and Java. I also completed AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles, gaining additional exposure to Python and JavaScript. My experience includes mentoring middle school students in collaborative, project-based coding competitions like MIT & NASA’s ZeroRobotics.
