I am a retired public school mathematics teacher. I taught mathematics for 33 years at the junior high/middle school level. I taught math 7, math 8, pre-algebra, and algebra I. I also substituted for 6 years at the school that I retired from and also worked for 2 years for NorthShoreClubZ Tutoring Agency. I am a retired public school mathematics teacher. I taught mathematics for 33 years at the junior high/middle school level. I taught math 7, math 8, pre-algebra, and algebra I. I have a BS in Math from UMASS Amherst and an MS in Math from Salem State University. I live in Saugus, Massachusetts and taught in the Beverly Public School System. I am familiar with differentiated instruction, the Mass State Frameworks, and students' IEPs. I am very patient and I am able to explain concepts so that you will understand them. I taught Algebra 1 for over fifteen years in the classroom as well as teaching Algebra 1 in Summer School for five years. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics and thirty college credits beyond my Master's Degree, fifteen of which are in mathematics and computer science.

I feel that I have a very varied education as well as a concentration in mathematics. I am also computer literate. Also, when I graduated from UMASS I was certified not only in mathematics but also in science. However, I taught only mathematics for my entire career.

I feel qualified to tutor in trigonometry because I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics. I used trigonometry in many, many math courses that I took for my Bachelor's Degree and for my Master's Degree. When you study upper level college courses in mathematics, both on the undergraduate and the graduate level, you use higher order thinking. When you look back at high school courses, the concepts appear to become easier. Even if, for example, you don't remember an identity in trigonometry, you have the thinking capacity to find it in the book, understand it, and be able to explain it to someone.

Arthur works his magic!

We just completed our 7th tutoring session with Arthur, and I felt it was time to write a full review for this amazing tutor in addition to all my 5-star lesson ratings. As a former middle school math teacher, Arthur was perfect for my 6th grade son. He’s not only a math whiz, but he also has a way of explaining the concepts so that they’re comprehensible for my son. My son actually said today that Mr. Arthur has “magical words that help him understand”. We meet with Arthur regularly every week, and we foresee these lessons to continue as math will only get harder! He is very flexible with scheduling, responsive, always on time, and cares more about the student finishing the day’s lesson than time-checking. Just wonderful all around. We are so thankful to have found Arthur, my son absolutely loves him more than his current math teacher! 😁
