I always start with explaining what the purpose is for mathematical concept or model before I explain the methods for finding answers I offer different thought procedures to use to understand and find answers to problems. The question I ask a student after they have answered a problem is "does that make sense?"
I worked with students on the Massachusetts ELA frameworks for 9-12 grades. I have helped students learn how to write clear and convincing essays to explain what they have read and what they think
