I am a recently retired elementary school teacher and Reading Specialist grades K-12. I have spent my entire professional life, well over 35 years, as an educator. Since the age of 10, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher. I was inspired at that time by my 4th grade teacher. I have maintained the same enthusiasm and love for teaching as I envisioned all those years ago.
My teaching experiences have been countless. With each class or individual tutorial I have not just been the teacher, but I am told a great motivator and cheerleader and most importantly, an unconditional support to my students. I have provided reading intervention skills and academic support to more students than I can count. The greatest satisfaction that I have received is when I have been told that I made the difference in a student's attitude and willingness to persevere during the most challenging academic times. I may not have inspired others to become a teacher but I am confident I allowed them to make mistakes and grow while I stood behind each and every one of them.
