I am passionate about teaching young adults how to see their potential through academic growth as both extraordinary learners and independent thinkers.
I have had many opportunities during my undergraduate and post-graduate career that have allowed me to gain classroom experience while learning the necessary communication, management and interpersonal skills to grow in my vocation as a teacher.
During my undergraduate career, I worked as a writing tutor in Gordon College’s Writing Center, where I assisted students with brainstorming and pre-writing techniques, feedback on essay drafts, and documentation of sources. I worked with non-native speakers in improving language skills as well. While an undergraduate student, I also worked as a tutor through Gordon’s service program College Bound, where I provided academic assistance to elementary aged students in Lynn, Ma. I also had many volunteer and service opportunities as an undergraduate that allowed me to gain experience working one-on-one tutoring middle to high school aged kids. I was an after-school tutor at the New American Center in Lynn, Ma, helping students with their homework assignments and brainstorming activities for school projects or after school goals. I also brought my tutoring experience outside of the country as a missionary serving at a Christian summer camp called Josiah Venture in Wroclaw, Poland, where I taught high school aged kids conversational English, participated in organization recreational sports, and shared my Christian faith during retreats. I continued my missionary work at The Root Cellar in Portland, Maine, where I supervised children’s bible studies and various after-school activities at the refugee center.
