Hi! My name is Martine, and I am a certified K–8 teacher with over 12 years of experience in the classroom. I currently teach 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies in Boston. I also hold a Master of Education from Boston College. Throughout my career, I have worked with students at a wide range of academic levels, including those who need extra support as well as those who are ready for enrichment. I have extensive experience helping students strengthen their reading comprehension, writing skills, and overall academic confidence.

In my tutoring sessions, I focus on helping students truly understand what they are reading and how to express their thinking clearly in writing. I teach strategies for finding and explaining evidence, organizing ideas, and improving grammar and sentence structure. I also support students in preparing for state exams such as MCAS. My approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I break skills down into manageable steps so students can build independence and apply what they learn in school.

I have worked in diverse classroom settings and have strong experience supporting multilingual learners and students who may be performing below grade level. As both a teacher and a parent, I understand how important it is to see real progress. I communicate regularly with families and can align sessions with what students are currently learning in school. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to build their confidence so they feel successful and capable.
