I have a background in microbiology and have spent my career working in science and biotech, where I use biology every day in a practical, real-world setting. My academic and professional experience has given me a strong foundation in core biology concepts, as well as the ability to explain complex material in a clear, understandable way.
My teaching experience began in college, where I worked in a teaching lab for about two years. In that role, I taught students in grades 6 through 12 biological concepts, laboratory techniques, and biotechnology methods in an educational setting. I helped students understand both the “what” and the “why” behind what they were learning, which is something I still prioritize in my teaching today.
In addition to that experience, I currently mentor junior scientists in my professional role. This has strengthened my ability to adapt my explanations to different learning styles, skill levels, and personalities. Whether I am teaching a middle school student, a high school student, or a newer professional, my goal is always the same: to make the material feel approachable and manageable.
My tutoring style is supportive, patient, and focused on true understanding rather than memorization. I like to break difficult topics into smaller pieces, connect concepts together clearly, and create a low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I believe students learn best when they feel encouraged, not intimidated, and when they understand how the pieces fit together instead of just trying to memorize facts for a test.
Whether a student needs help building a strong foundation, reviewing class material, preparing for exams, or gaining confidence in biology, I aim to meet them where they are and help them make real progress.
