I am a Math teacher in Massachusetts and have my state certification in teaching Math (8-12) and Business (5-12). I am also endorsed as a Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) teacher. I know the value of hard work and perseverance, as I am a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of UMass Boston and have a dual Master's degree (Accounting and Business Administration) from Northeastern University, where I was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and graduated with a GPA of 3.7. I have 9 years of high school Math teaching experience, both in public and private schools. I currently tutor high school students in all college prep Math courses. I previously lived and spent time in Latin America and am able to tutor in Spanish grammar, reading, and composition.

I am excellent in explaining the step by step process needed to understand how to analyze and solve problems in Math. I have taken the math portion of the MTEL and I passed it on the first try. My personal high school, college, and Graduate school background in Math is exceptional. I provide assistance to students in many areas of Math, and have experience both tutoring and teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Geometry.

I have tutored students in high school Spanish, as well as have lived in Spanish speaking countries. I am able to read and write Spanish fluently, and also able to carry on a fluid conversation with a native speaker.

I believe I would be of great help to any student struggling in either Math, Spanish, or Accounting. My varied background enables me to help out students in various ways. I believe students would enjoy my patient approach and my ability to listen to them as well as instruct. I have good references available as well to assure you of my competence and success in tutoring. I will be happy to meet with you at a mutually convenient public location or virtually.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

As an Algebra 1 instructor, I instruct students in fundamental high school mathematics, focusing on solving equations, understanding functions (linear, quadratic, and exponential), and graphing on a coordinate plane. I teach students how to manipulate algebraic expressions, work with variables, simplify exponents and radicals, and apply these concepts to model real-world scenarios.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

As an Algebra 2 instructor, I instruct students on advanced algebraic concepts, building on Algebra 1 by expanding into complex functions, logarithms, and polynomial analysis. Key topics include solving systems of equations, quadratic equations with complex solutions, rational/radical expressions, and exponential/logarithmic functions.
Geometry

Geometry

As a Geometry teacher, I instruct students on the properties, measurements, and relationships of points, lines, angles, surfaces, and solids. I focus on developing spatial reasoning, logical thinking, and proof-writing skills through the study of 2D and 3D shapes, transformations, congruence, similarity, and coordinate geometry.
Precalculus

Precalculus

As a precaculus teacher, I prepare students for calculus by bridging advanced algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Key topics taught include analyzing complex function families (polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic), mastering unit circle trigonometry, understanding graphs/transformations, polar coordinates, vectors, and an introduction to limits, ensuring students can model and interpret mathematical relationships.
Spanish

Spanish

I have several years of tutoring high school students in Spanish 1 and 2. I am able to teach grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
