Hi! I'm Sean, a student at Harvard College studying philosophy. I have 3+ years of tutoring experience, working both one-on-one and in groups in numerous settings, including high school academic resource centers, individual classrooms, and online. I focus on tutoring high school students and specialize in math, English/writing, SAT prep, and college applications. As a tutor, I take an empathetic approach, aiming to meet students where they are while remaining aware of individual differences in past educational experiences. I try to balance teaching with hands-on experience, as I believe that the best way to learn and master difficult concepts is to put what you've learned into practice. That being said, I'm always sure to remain flexible and cater to individual needs and preferences!
The following are my qualifications/educational background in the subjects in which I specialize.
• Mathematics: I earned high marks in the most rigorous mathematics curriculum offered by my high school and scored a 5 in both AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC. I have taken multiple math and math-adjacent courses at Harvard and currently have a 4.0 GPA in these subjects.
• English/Writing: I scored a 5 in both AP Lit and AP Lang, earned a Scholastic Writing Gold Key award for my writing, and received personal praise from T20 admissions officers for my essays. At Harvard, I've taken and scored well in a number of rigorous writing-focused courses.
• SAT: In addition to achieving a perfect score on both the Reading/Writing and Math portions of the SAT, I am a Schoolhouse certified SAT tutor and have run a number of online bootcamps in both SAT Math and SAT Reading/Writing.
• College Applications: I was accepted to various T20 schools, earned multiple full-ride merit scholarships, and received praise from admissions officers for my essays/application. I've worked with students on college applications before and am excited to continue to do so.
