I'm a senior software engineer with six years at Amazon and degrees from Arizona State (undergrad) and Northeastern (master's). Long before it was my career, though, teaching computer science was something I loved: I've tutored CS one-on-one since high school and through college, taught evening programming classes to elementary and middle schoolers, and was an instructor at a DigiPen summer camp — so I've worked with students from around age eight all the way up to college, for over a decade.
I love getting young, curious kids started with coding, video game programming, and web design, and I'm just as at home helping older students with AP Computer Science A (Java), AP Computer Science Principles, and college intro CS, data structures, and first programming courses in Java or Python. My approach is to work from a student's own assignments and interests so the help stays relevant, while making sure the underlying idea actually clicks — my goal each session is for a student to leave a little more confident and independent than they came in. Whether your child wants to build their first game or you're a college student trying to survive your first CS class, I'd love to help.
