I love the English language in all its forms. The myriad ways you can bend and shape the English language in elegant, precise, or moving ways is something that captivates me.

Currently, as a 7th Grade English Instructional Lead & Inclusion Resource Teacher, I have worked closely with co-teachers and paraprofessionals to tailor curriculum and instructional methods, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all students.

My contributions have significantly strengthened my school’s culture around literacy and academic growth for all students. Multilingual or English Language Learners (ELLs) as well as students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) have made significant growth on the MAP Reading Assessment as a result of my data driven instructional approach.

As a Literacy Leadership Team member, I have developed and facilitated training sessions that enhance each educators’ capacity to implement evidence-based literacy strategies. My passion for culturally responsive teaching, coupled with my ESL and Special Education licensures, position me to meet the needs of Boston’s diverse student population.

I combine my experience and expertise in teaching English (writing, reading and speaking) with my enthusiasm for working with student populations that range from Middle School to High School to bring alive the English language for any student I tutor.

I use a phonics approach, and take into account phonological awareness and vocabulary acquisition skills, when tutoring students who want to raise their reading and writing literacy and comprehension levels. To teach reading comprehension and prepare students for a successful writing session I use the Reciprocal Teaching (RT) method. Through RT students analyze the text from multiple standpoints and synthesize the information they discover.

When working with small groups, or 1:1, I steep my tutoring approach in data-driven methods and take into account the strengths and areas for growth of the student in front of me.
