I am currently an MS1 student at Drexel University College of Medicine, also an Class of 2023 alumna of Emmanuel College. I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a concentration in Health sciences. During my undergraduate career, I worked as a peer tutor for multiple courses, including Calculus I, Introductory Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology. I was also an instructional assistant to multiple laboratory courses as well, holding an immense passion for helping current students succeed in their courses. I am also fluent in Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese, and have worked with students that are not fluent in English or are enrolled in a Chinese language course. Therefore, I've had the honor of working with students from various backgrounds, allowing me to personalize their learning experiences. As a visual learner myself, I enjoy guiding students to create diagrams and visuals, or writing down each step of a problem solution to better understand the material and provide them with the chance of trying to understand it step-by-step themselves.

I also continue to volunteer as a medical school application cycle student advisor during and after my time at Emmanuel College, helping students that are planning to apply to medical school revise their essays and compile their application throughout the span of the school year or their gap year. I set up meetings with students to guide them through the process. In regards to essay writing, especially personal statements, I encourage applicants to take time to recall upon past experiences that may have contributed to their passion to work in medicine, and then narrow down their options to one overlying theme. In addition, I provide advice and tips on studying for the MCAT examination, encouraging examinees to explore, early on, what studying and test-taking techniques work best for them.

Very patient and encouraging

Vivian was a very helpful tutor for my med school interview prep. She gave clear advice and encouraged me to feel confident in my answers. Her feedback was thoughtful and practical, and she helped me sound more polished while staying true to myself. We worked on both traditional and MMI, and she gave me other tips and tricks for the whole process. I felt much more prepared going into my interviews thanks to her support.

Vivian is Wonderful!

I have been working with Vivian for a few sessions now and she goes above and beyond. I really enjoy our lessons, and I can already see progress. It’s not easy to teach a language to someone with no experience and she is incredible. She is so friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who’s looking for tutoring in her proficiencies and I am excited to keep working with her!

very patient and knowledgeable!

I had a great experience working with my tutor, Vivian, while studying the muscles in anatomy. What I really appreciated was that she didn’t just give me the answers—she encouraged me to think through the material on my own first. When I got something wrong, she explained it in a way that actually made sense and helped me understand the concept better, not just memorize it. Her teaching style really helped me feel more confident and engaged with the material. Highly recommend her if you’re looking for someone patient, supportive, and really good at breaking things down!
