Hello, I am Olivia! I graduated cum laude with my bachelors in chemistry, and a biology minor. While I was in college, I helped contribute to a research grant that allowed me to do research with a biochem professor in protein engineering. I later went on to spend around a year working in research and development at material science companies, working on filtration systems, specialty paper, and more. Along my academic path, I realized that what helped me most in learning, was when the instructors were enthused about the subject they were teaching. I was then able to better connect concepts together and learn at a deeper level. I am in law school on a merit scholarship, and the analytical training compliments my strong background in chemistry. I remain active in the field through research and tutoring. Thus, I am comfortable teaching general chemistry, high school chemistry, as well as elementary level subjects.

I have around a year experience tutoring high school chemistry one on one outside of a tutoring service. In my approach, I would listen to the student on what concepts they needed assistance with, and then further break down the concept for a deeper understanding. I would utilize methods such as drawing a diagram out for them to picture, or explaining the concept verbally. I would then make sure they had enough understanding to explain the concept themselves, as teaching a concept back helps understanding.

What sets me apart from other tutors is how enthused I am about subjects and learning. I always love explaining concepts to people, as I have had to do in my previous work. Additionally, seeing the moment someone understands a concept better is very rewarding, as I thrive to help others love subjects as much as I do. I am very excited to have the opportunity to help you achieve your goals, whatever the goals may be!
