Hi, I'm Lynn! I graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in math and a minor in education. I have tutored students in math since 2015.

I have worked with students in middle school, high school, and college, tutoring in many different areas of, such as algebra, geometry, calculus, etc. For many people, math is intimidating, but my goal when tutoring is to make the students more confident in their math abilities and be able to do math more independently.

I not only make sure the student knows how to do the math, but also try to make sure they have an understanding of why it works. During a tutoring session, I usually begin with going over what the student is learning or going over new material to get them ahead, do a few problems with the student, and then have the student try problems independently. By having the student try problems on their own, it can boost their confidence and make them realize they have the ability to do math.

Tutoring in math is something I have always loved doing. I have always loved math and being able to help those who need help with it, even when I was in middle and high school helping my peers. My favorite part of tutoring is when the student has a "light bulb" moment, such as when the student connects what they are working on to something they already learned. I want to help students have a better understanding of math and build their confidence in their math abilities to help them succeed and reach their highest potential.

I have helped many students who struggle greatly in math go from being frustrated and very confused to not only knowing how to do problems, but understanding why they take the steps they do to solve the problems. Understanding is far superior to only knowing. When working with students, I have a lot of patience because I know that they ma not understand a concept immediately, but rather after lots of practice.
