Bio

I received my M.S. in Physics for the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my B.S. in Mathematics from William and Mary. For work, I develop simulations of radar signatures of various aircraft, which involves extensive computing and advanced mathematical physics. I also still perform research as part of a research group at UW-Madison in theoretical and computational molecular physics.

I have tutored a wide range of ages from 8th grade to college. My approach varies by age and student, but in general I focus on trying to arm the student with the ability to analyze what a specific question is asking or what the core principle of a general field are. By reducing a complex problem, or general field, down to its most simple steps, or fundamental tenets, you arm the student with the ability to analyze and extrapolate. The skill of analysis, breaking a complex task down into simple components, and then building from one step to another is central in Math/Physics/CS, but also life in general.

I also am truly driven by a passion to learn and share what I learn, and this enthusiasm is one of the biggest things I have encouraged in students. Math, Physics, and Computer Science are hard and take a lot of work from students, regardless of the student or the teacher. I think the most important thing a teacher can do ultimately is inspire an interest in students to want to learn/succeed. I hated math in early high school, and it wasn't until I had a teacher who truly loved the subject and knew how to inspire an interest to go further that I became enthralled. I have brought this same enthusiasm to inspiring the next generation.

I can tutor students in a broad range of topics from beginner 8/9th grade to advanced college/graduate level Math/Physics. For Computer Science, I can tutor in basic coding, Python, and also numerical/computational topics and Machine Learning in particular.
