Hello! I'm Pat, and I've worked as a special education English teacher for the last thirteen years. I graduated with my Master's degree in General Special Education, and I teach small group language-based reading classes to students who struggle with reading using programs such as the Wilson Reading Program. In my time as a teacher, there are certain traits I have learned to value, including being honest, patient, and kind with my students. I always encourage them to be better. Teaching struggling readers has become my passion, and I enjoy getting to know students, learning their strengths and weaknesses, and helping them make progress throughout the academic year.

As a tutor, I mostly work with middle and high school students but can also help college students and adults. My areas of expertise are reading and writing, and I can help with nightly homework, reading an in-class text, and writing essays. I am a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner certified to teach Steps 1-6 of the Wilson Reading Program. I can help students build their organization and time management skills. I've helped students with math in the past, and I can usually help with Algebra but not much beyond that! I can meet either at your home or the public library.

If you're interested in meeting up, please feel free to reach out! I offer our first lesson as a free consultation and can meet nights and weekends. I look forward to hearing from you!

Excellent Tutor - Helping my standard math daughter become an advanced math daughter!

My daughter lacked the confidence going into 7th grade around her math abilities so we hired Patrick to help her with her homework once a week. Patrick worked with my daughter approximately 4 months. She progressed so much within that time period - gaining both the confidence to ask questions if she didn't understand and studying on her own! During the last tri-mester of seventh grade Patrick told us that our daughter didn't need his support any more! I was a bit skeptical (only because I know how hard my daughter struggled with the math confidence factor) but she finished the year strong and has made all A's in her 8th grade standard math class. She is SO confident now in her abilities she decided on her own to go to summer school (and recommended by her 8th grade teacher) so she can get placed in advanced algebra next year. I am so proud of what she's done and the goals she has set for herself. I know Patrick was a huge influence on getting her to understand that not only CAN she do math but she can also ENJOY it. Thanks Patrick! ;)

Good

Patrick is a good teacher with teaching experience. His pronunciation is clear and his rhythm is appropriate. He evaluates Mike's English and helps with his homework. Mike likes his pronunciation and lectures very much. They are short and clear.

Friendly Tutor

My son who doesn't usually get comfortable quickly, warmed up to Patrick right away and has shown interest on learning and getting better with his math.

Excellent math tutor for my son

Patrick was the second tutor my 15 year old son had and the last. My son really liked working with Pat over the past 8 months. Pat was dedicated to helping him get through algebra. In our initial conversation, Pat asked many questions about my son and his needs. At the first meeting, my son was reluctant to go and be tutored, but after the first meeting he looked forward to working with Pat again. My son even asked at times to change his tutoring day around his tests so Pat could help him study and Pat was always accommodating when he could and would switch days. Unfortunately, we need to discontinue tutoring because we are moving out of state. But if anyone is in need of a great, relatable-to-teenagers tutor, Pat is your guy!
