As a certified Reading Specialist and Elementary Educator with over 24 years of experience, I’ve dedicated my career to helping young learners become confident, capable readers. I’ve served in many roles throughout my journey — classroom teacher, literacy coach, elementary school principal, and now Director of Literacy for a public school district. Each of these roles has deepened my understanding of how children learn to read and how to best support them at every stage of their development. I hold a Master’s Degree in Reading and advanced certification in school administration, and I’m passionate about bringing research-based, high-impact strategies into every tutoring session.

My approach is warm, encouraging, and personalized. I specialize in working with K–6 students who need support with foundational skills, fluency, comprehension, or confidence. I’ve worked with children in one-on-one and small group settings, as well as supported district-wide reading intervention and curriculum initiatives. I take time to really get to know each learner — their strengths, their challenges, and what motivates them — and I design engaging, targeted lessons to match. Whether a child needs intensive intervention or just a boost in confidence, my goal is always to create a safe, positive space where learning feels achievable and progress is celebrated.

Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a Massachusetts-certified Elementary Educator (Grades 1–6) with over 24 years of experience teaching and supporting students in Grades K–6. I’ve served as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, principal, and currently work as a district Director of Literacy. My approach is warm, personalized, and grounded in research-based instructional practices that meet each child’s unique needs. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, I specialize in helping young learners grow in confidence and skill across all core content areas, with a particular strength in reading and writing.
Phonics

Phonics

As a licensed Reading Specialist (K–12) and former Literacy Coach, I bring over two decades of experience supporting early literacy development through research-based phonics instruction. I have successfully led district-wide implementation of high-quality foundational reading programs aligned with the Science of Reading, such as Fundations and Heggerty. In my role as Director of Literacy, I train teachers in explicit phonics strategies and coach them to deliver effective, structured literacy lessons tailored to diverse learners. My approach ensures that students build strong decoding and encoding skills, setting a solid foundation for lifelong reading success.
Reading

Reading

I specialize in early reading intervention for students in Grades K–3 who need extra support developing foundational literacy skills. As a licensed Reading Specialist and former early elementary teacher, I’ve worked extensively with students who struggle with decoding, fluency, and comprehension. I use evidence-based strategies aligned with the Science of Reading to deliver targeted, engaging instruction that builds confidence and accelerates growth. In my current role as Director of Literacy, I also lead district-wide initiatives focused on early intervention, train teachers on small group instruction, and support families in helping young readers succeed.
Spelling

Spelling

I specialize in helping early elementary students (Grades K–3) develop strong spelling skills through a structured, phonics-based approach. As a licensed Reading Specialist and former classroom teacher, I understand how spelling connects to phonemic awareness, phonics, and overall literacy development. I use explicit, multisensory strategies to help young learners understand spelling patterns, sound-letter relationships, and high-frequency word recognition. In my current role as Director of Literacy, I support teachers with foundational spelling instruction using research-based programs like Fundations and Heggerty to ensure students build lasting skills and confidence in their writing.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I support early elementary students who need targeted help with spelling by using systematic, phonics-based instruction rooted in the Science of Reading. With my background as a Reading Specialist and early elementary educator, I focus on helping students understand how sounds map to letters and how patterns form the basis of strong spelling. I incorporate multisensory strategies, high-frequency word practice, and structured routines to make spelling both meaningful and accessible. Whether your child is just beginning to spell or struggling with consistent errors, I tailor my instruction to build skills step by step—and help them feel confident and successful.
