Hey there! I'm Abbie. I graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, and a minor in Mechanical Engineering while competing on the varsity cross country team. I recently received my Masters in Biomedical Engineering from UVA, where I specialized in medical device design and development. Over the course of my education, I found I was passionate about the intersection of math and science. The nature of these disciplines is one of difficulty, which resulted in me relying on professors, TAs, and mentors to help me break down hard-to-grasp topics and pose problems in a digestible and comprehensible way! I found these tools to be the most engaging and useful approach to learning, and strive to bring a similar approach to my tutoring style. I want to give back to students by helping to further their academic endeavors using tools that helped me the most in my studies and work.

I work to create an open environment where students feel comfortable enough to ask for clarity and where I am able to deliver help in an engaging and comprehensible manner. At the end of the day, I want learning to be a pleasant and welcoming experience. I offer lesson plans that are creative and interactive, while teaching the material in an explicit and constructive way. I base my lesson plans on individual student needs and desired focuses and allow the opportunity for students to practice on their own after a session. I have experience tutoring high school and college level subjects in STEM subjects. I also have a deep understanding of several coding languages that I believe I can be of assistance with.

I believe I present STEM topics in a way that is applicable and therefore provides a deeper understanding to the core concepts. I have many years of high level math and science and have gone through trial and error to find the most approachable, yet explicit, ways to teach the subject. I tutor students in Physics, Biology, Algebra (I & II), Precalc, Calc, and Chemistry.

Series 66

I studied and passed the Series 66 exam on my first attempt, and developed a strong set of skills that helped me excel in taking the exam. I then worked as an Investment Analyst in Private Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley, where I put into practice many of the tools learned from Series 66.
