Hi! My name is Georgia, and I am a Yale College graduate currently pursuing my PhD in Psychology at Northeastern University. I specialize in helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in challenging academic environments, including strong writing, effective study strategies, confident communication, and preparation for college.
My background in psychology shapes my teaching approach: I use evidence-based learning strategies that focus not only on mastering content, but also on helping students understand how they learn best. My goal is to help students become more confident, independent learners who can approach academic challenges with effective tools and strategies.
I specialize in college admissions preparation and interview coaching, college essays and personal statements, academic and scientific writing, public speaking, SAT preparation, AP Psychology, and study skills. My experience in these areas comes from years of academic training and communication-focused work. I was a national-level competitive debater in high school, and as a PhD student I regularly present research at department meetings and international conferences. Through my own academic journey, I have developed extensive experience with standardized testing, research, writing, and navigating demanding educational environments.
Although I am new to Wyzant, I am not new to mentorship. I currently mentor college students pursuing advanced degrees, serve as a STEM outreach leader working with local high school students, and frequently support mentees with academic writing, presentations, and professional development.
I love working one-on-one with students and tailoring my approach to their individual goals, strengths, and learning styles. I believe that successful students are not just those who know the material, but those who understand how to learn effectively, communicate clearly, and build confidence in their abilities.
Please feel free to reach out—I would be happy to discuss how I can support your student!
