About Anna

Bio

I have helped hundreds students boost their SAT & ACT scores! Many of my students now attend schools including Yale, Cornell, and the U.S. Naval Academy. These results come from hundreds of hours of experience breaking down SAT and ACT problems into simple, easy-to-understand steps. During my lessons, I use prompting questions to help students understand the steps they must take to solve problems on their own. I have helped hundreds students boost their SAT & ACT scores! Many of my students now attend schools including Yale, Cornell, and the U.S. Naval Academy. These results come from hundreds of hours of experience breaking down SAT and ACT problems into simple, easy-to-understand steps. During my lessons, I use prompting questions to help students understand the steps they must take to solve problems on their own. I am able to quickly diagnose weaknesses in the areas of time management, reading, math, vocabulary, etc., and turn them into strengths though my guided practice exercises.

I worked as a professional SAT/ACT and Elementary Tutor for Huntington Learning Center before joining Wyzant's platform. I have also guided students though the college admissions process. I have helped many of them improve their personal statements and application essays to reflect their stunning talent and persistent dedication.

When I do have free time, I would almost always rather be tutoring! Lessons with me are fun and engaging, and your student will become well acquainted with the feeling of success after the very first lesson. I am currently a licensed attorney and a 2017 graduate of BYU's J. Reuben Clark School of Law. During my time there, I was a lead editor of the Education Law Journal. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in April 2012 from Brigham Young University.

Superb SAT Instructor. Period!

My daughter was struggling in improving her scores on the SAT exam. Her previous tutors were good but not conveying the material or strategies in a way she could relate and pass the 1380 mark. I opted to get her a different tutor and after interviewing many SAT tutors on Wyzant I selected Anna C. I knew we hit the jackpot. Anna has an amazing understanding of the inner workings of the SAT exam, especially the reading section. She teaches material and strategy simultaneously. Though her hourly rate is higher than other tutors she is worth it. She not only teaches content but she shows you how to isolate the answer for the MCQs. That's key. The exam is a strategy test.. not a real English and math test Anna is tireless. She is committed to my daughter's success and is not watching the clock. She wants to make sure you end the session at a natural point and are able to later digest and apply what she taught. She has patience of steel. She not only provides a write up of each lesson as required but she will answer every question my daughter had and converse with me on text after each lesson until I've exhausted all my questions. I can say as an instructor myself that she embodies what a true professional instructor is. She is patient, knowledgeable, conversant, interesting, committed and genuine. My daughter may not get a 1600 on the exam. That's ok! But I know she had the best instruction money can buy. We hired Anna for over 8 one hour sessions. So my recommendation is based on much interaction with Anna. Thank you Anna. For everything!

Highly Recommend for Test Prep!

In just a few lessons with Anna, I was able to bring my ACT composite score up 2 points. Anna was very encouraging, and her lessons and strategies were extremely helpful. In the past, I have used other prep methods, but her lessons were by far the most useful to me when it came to preparing for and retaking the test. Anna was flexible and worked around my schedule, the one-on-one lessons were tailored to the areas I needed to focus on, and the recommended assignments between sessions were very doable and extremely helpful. I would highly encourage anyone looking to increase their test scores to connect with Anna!
