I believe that if science is not fun, something is wrong with the way it's being taught to you. Every single thing you do, touch, eat, feel and think is related to science...and that does not even include the possibility of life on other planets, lava spewing from volcanoes and crazy weird animals that live at the bottom of the ocean.

I teach 6th grade science now, but I have taught 4-8th grade science in the classroom and Pre-K through college students out in the marsh, on the beach and in the woods. Living on the planet for 53 years means I have done a lot of living, traveling, working, playing. I have gotten pretty good at making my work feel like play. Helping young people discover and incorporate what they are good at and like to do into their school work to make it engaging is what I am all about.
Random Details: I am the mom of two teenagers and 3 cats. I sleep best outside. My most important object is my snorkel mask and my favorite gift is a sign my family gave me that says, "You smell like low tide".
I have degrees in natural resources, geography, marine policy and science education. That is a lot of pieces of paper that say I am qualified...but are not what make me qualified. What makes me qualified is my real life experiences in the habitats of the world. The miles I have traveled by foot, old sail boat and plane have allowed me to learn in a very hands-on way as has my work as a marine biologist, and as a teacher inside and outside the walls and screens of school.
This year may be kind of weird year for all of us. I want to make it more fun and more connected for you.
Science is Everything...so sometimes it can be confusing, but you don't need to do it alone. Reach out and you can decide if I am a good fit for you.
