I have a Master's from the University of Southern California and am a Grumbacher Art Certified Instructor. I am an experienced and accomplished visual artist; I specialize in encouraging students to explore their own creative style while also learning basic painting, drawing techniques.

For children ages 8-12, I focus on strengths, while building new skills. Drawing, painting, sculpting, collage, and printing are areas for exploration and growth. For older children and teens, I aim to focus on developing one's own style with continued exploration of art technique. I also have experience teaching painting an drawing to adults, inspiring them to discover their passion for art! I am flexible with my time and often give assignments or projects to work on after each session.

Age-Appropriate areas of instruction include:
-Painting Techniques such as Layering, Mixing, Washes, and Glazing.
-Understanding Composition such as Working from back to front; The painting matters, not the object you're painting from; An odd number of objects in a composition tends to be more interesting than an even number; Off-center is more visually interesting than centered subjects; Visualizing where you want subject(s) to go before painting; Light (shadows and highlights).
-Understanding Color Theory: Red/orange or warm colors bring things forward, blue/green, or cool colors send them back; Opposites or complementary colors on the color wheel; Painting with medium tones, so that highlights and shadows can be applied easily. Using multiple colors equals depth and interest; there are no pure colors in life!
-How to Mix Paint: Mixing using the palette knife, brush, on palette, or on painting.
-Drawing Materials and Their Uses: Pencils, Chalks, Charcoal, Pastels, Ink, Fixatives, Paper.

I have had many Solo, Group, and Invitational Exhibitions at several prestigious locations. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you or your children achieve creative success, strengthen existing talent, and develop new artistic skills!

My own professional style of abstract modern images constantly pushes the limits of color and design. My artwork is distinguished by my use of shapes, colors, perspective, and creativity. My paintings explore color, lines, minimalism, and repetition, common themes of late twentieth century art. My recent work focuses on lines, shapes, and the integration of an illusion of mosaic tile.

Experienced and knowledgeable tutor

We had only one lesson yet and we went over my existing paintings. Eddie gave me very detailed, constructive, and useful critique. Also, he gave me tips for future paining. We established my weaker points and started working on development of stronger skills. Thank you Eddie
