Hi there! I have always been an avid student. Now I want to help other students succeed who are studying related concepts.

Hi there! I have always been an avid student. Now I want to help other students succeed who are studying related concepts.
Initially, I attended community college unsure of what I wanted to pursue for a career. Eventually I took some psychology and biology courses that interested me. I ended up graduating with an associate's degree in science, still not 100% sure what I wanted to do. Then, I attended Framingham State University, majoring in Biology (GPA: 3.92). It was during this time that I established a solid understanding of the "pillars" of biology: organismal, evolutionary, developmental, and molecular - getting A's in all of my classes. I also became highly skilled in reading and writing scientific literature. My main area of interest during this time was human evolutionary biology.
While human biology was fascinating to me, there was one aspect of it that was most interesting: the brain. After a few years of employment, I returned to graduate school to pursue my Master's in Neuroscience at Brandeis University (GPA: 3.92). This included topics such as neuropsychology and neurophysiology. Additionally, my research focused on developing experimental protocols to assess and quantify empathic processes from EEG data (part of Jennifer Gutsell's SIM Lab at Brandeis University).
While working in the SIM Lab during my graduate studies, I mentored many undergraduate students in neurobiology. Though I helped them in the context of a neuropsychology laboratory, I believe this skill can be easily translated to tutoring in other settings. My approach here is to help students with tailored lessons, so that they can best understand concepts that may not be intuitive or easy to teach in a classroom setting. I know firsthand how daunting school can be - amidst all of other life's challenges - and want to help students feel like they are not in this alone.
Thank you!
