I recently received my Ph.D. from the University of Vermont in Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical sciences with a concentration in host cell responses to viral infections. During my time at the University of Vermont, I was a TA for two sophomore level microbiology labs for nurses, and a TA for a senior level molecular biology lab which introduced students to the various techniques used by researchers to uncover answers to scientific questions. Additionally, I have several years of experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students within the lab.
As a TA, tutor, and mentor my philosophy is to meet students where they are and incrementally build upon what they known until they have the tools and confidence to continue to explore the questions they are curious about. While knowing the material is important, having the confidence to grow, make mistakes, and apply this material are additional skills I try to teach my students along the way.
I am able to support students who are looking to increase their skill set in the following areas: Cellular and Molecular Biology, Microbiology/Virology, Genetics, and Biochemistry.
